Why Chetan Bhagat is India's Bobby Jindal ?

Popular author Chetan Bhagat today published a blog analysing the anatomy of a Narendra Modi supporter ... you can read it here

According to Chetan, any individual who supports Modi is most likely ...

1) Male
2) Speaks bad English and hence has an inferiority complex
3) Sexually frustrated - cannot make friends with women due it to lack of fluency in English
4) Ashamed of being a Hindu.

Lets address this one by one ...

1) Every election that Modi has won from 2002 till date has been on the solid support of women voters. There are more women ministers and chief ministers today than in the last 60 yrs of governance in India. A brief scan on Twitter/FB will indicate support Narendra Modi enjoys across the board

2) Bad English leads to Inferiority Complex - Take any reality show in India ( including the one on which Chetan is a judge). Almost all winners and participants come from small town India. There is no lack of confidence at all .. you hardly find any convent educated folks. Look at our Indian cricket team .... many of them (including Dhoni/Sachin) went to vernacular medium schools but have enough faith in themselves to take on the world...

3) Bad English leads to Sexual Frustration - When Kama Sutra was being compiled, English was not even heard of in India. Chetan's experience with women seems fairly limited for he pontificates that learning English will help you get your way with women. Going back to the reality shows ... folks from small town India make no bones about flirting with actress who join reality shows to promote their movies. More than anyone, Chetan's himself comes across as frustrated

4) Ashamed of being Hindu - Despite 800 yrs of Muslim rule and 200 years of Christian rule, India is 84% Hindu. Unlike the Europe and Middle East which saw countries converting en masse due to fear or favour, India remained Hindu ... to keep your faith even against odds indicates belief and pride.

Its true that small time India did rise to support Modi, its true that many of them have gone to vernacular schools and for them English is a foreign language. They voted for Modi for in Modi they see hope....

1) Hope that someone from a poor OBC family can rise to become a leader of a billion
2) Hope that without knowing English, you can still earn respect from world leaders
3) Hope that a life of dignity can be lived without having to westernise yourself

Chetan reminds me of Bobby Jindal ....someone who mocks their own identity and roots to win favours .....more white than whites .....

Grow up Chetan  .... and Get Well Soon Mammu !!

Manohar - One who could win hearts and minds

They say that it is easy to defeat anyone, winning people over is the most difficult thing to do. Manohar Parrikar true to his name dedicated his life to winning people over. My first interaction with Manohar Parikkar was 5 years ago. Elections had been announced and Manohar Parikkar was asked to address IT professionals living in and around Outer Ring Road in Bangalore. New Horizon College was the venue. On that lazy Sunday, I managed to show up at the venue 15 before time. Politicians are known to arrive late but Manohar Parrikar was already there mingling with the IT crowd. He speech consisted of 2-3 stories with foksy humor and wisdom. He wanted the IT crowd to engage in politics, to participate in nation building, I still remember his story "Once upon a time, Goa was known for the best watermelons. Every year post the harvest season, farmers in every village would invite people to taste the best watermelons for free. There was only one condition, they had to spit ou...

Mahaghatbandhan Meltdown

Over the last 9 months, regional leaders had worked very hard to build an anti-Modi front. They did not contest seats, swallowed pride and also shared a platform with the very parties against whom they had contested all their lives. These regional parties did all this with only one hope - survival. They believed that if they all came together, they could put up a credible fight against Modi in 2019. It would be painful for each one of them to concede seats but at least survival was possible. The Mahaghatbandhan strategy was put to test during the bypolls. Vote banks were combined; lifelong enemies (BSP-SP) came together and the BJP was defeated in the bypolls. Mahaghatbahndhan despite its inherent contradictions seemed to work. Desperation was the binding glue. NDA, on the other hand, seemed to lose friends. The Shiv Sena remains miffed as it is relegated to a supporting role, TDP walked out as it was unable to take on YSR at the local level. On top of this, media build a ...
